Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson’s action blockbuster crosses $100 million dollars overseas.
The eighth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise is cruising the international box office, showing that there is still life in the franchise to go for a few more rounds. As per a report in Variety, though the official figures are not out yet, the movie took in an estimated $100.2 million in the US over the weekend, and $135 million in China itself, one of the best markets for such blockbusters. Trade experts also predict that the movie may cross $529 million set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens all over the world in the opening weekend records.
However, The Fate of the Furious could not break the records of Furious 7’s domestic record of $147.2 million box office opening. The US audiences are not quite impressed with the new movie, and even the reviews were not so favourable. In India, it had an amazing run collecting Rs 38 crores in just 3 days, including paid previews. The budget of The Fate of the Furious is estimated to be around $250 million which is the highest in the whole franchise.
Fast and Furious 8 stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, Charlize Theron, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, and Michelle Rodriguez. F. Gary Gray, known for his brilliant Straight Outta Compton, has directed this movie.
