Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy starrer Gold has witnessed a noticeable dip in its second week at the box office. Though it has managed to remain steady in the weekdays. The sports drama currently stands with the grand total of Rs 104 crore. Looking at the current scenario, we are expecting the film to end its theatrical run around Rs 110 crore.
Gold is based on Indian Hockey team’s gold medal victory at 1948 Olympics. It fictionalizes the events preceding the big final, in which an independent India defeated the British to clinch the top prize. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Tapan Das, the team’s manager. The Reema Kagti directorial also stars Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, and Sunny Kaushal.
Gold is Akshay Kumar’s ninth Rs 100 crore film after Housefull 2, Housefull 3, Airlift, Rustom, Jolly LLB 2, Holiday, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Rowdy Rathore. The film has already crossed the Rs 150 crore mark at the worldwide box office, making it one of highest Bollywood grossers of the year.
